RALLY TO THE TOP
PICKLE POINT LADDER LEAGUE
6-week ladder league
The goal of a ladder league is to provide every player with competitive matches within a ranking system. Each week, participants will be grouped with others of similar skill levels to play a session of ‘tabled’ play. In addition, players will be simultaneously competing to improve their individual overall ranking, with the ultimate goal of reaching the top of the Individual Ladder. The player at the top will be the one who has shown the best performance over the full 6 weeks of the league.
How It Works:
-
EACH WEEK players will be assigned to a group of 4 (or 5, depending on registration numbers) based on their overall Individual Ladder ranking. The weekly group will play a full ‘table’; meaning each player plays a match partnered with each of the other players in the table.

-
We’ll run one round, so you’ll play 3-4 games in about 2 hours.
Initial Player Placement:

For your first week in the league, your self-rated skill level will be used by Court Reserve to place you on a court with 4 or 5 similarly self-rated players. From that point on, your performance in the league matches will determine your future placement. If you have concerns about your placement, feel free to reach out to the League Manager (diego@picklepointcentre.com)
How Rankings Are Determined:

At the end of each week, the results from the 3-4 games played in the table round robin will be totaled, and based on each player's perfomance, the Individual Ladder rankings will be updated for the following week. Regardless of your standing on the Individual Ladder ranking, each week, one player from each table will move up a table and one player from each table will move down a table.

Individual Ladder rankings are determined by the overall +/- ratio for each player in each of the table matches that they play.
Weekly Pool Placement (Courts):

· The top-ranked player in each table will move up to a higher court (for example, from Court 2 to Court 1).
· The middle players in each table will stay in their current table (for example, players finishing 2-3 or 2-4).
· The lowest-ranked player will move down to a lower court (for example, from Court 2 to Court 3).

Note: In some cases, due to logistical reasons, the League Manager may decide to adjust the number of players moving up or down, allowing only one player to move up and/or one to move down, while others remain in their positions.
Prizes and Recognition:

At the end of the 6 weeks, the 3 highest-ranked players on the Individual Ladder will receive prizes:

-
1st place: $200 cash
-
2nd place: $100 cash
-
3rd place: $50 cash
League Rules:

1. Self-Rating Rule: Every player must submit their self-rating when registering by emailing diego@picklepointcentre.com

2. 15-Minute Rule: Players must be present on the courts and checked in at least 15 minutes before the start of the event.

3. No-Show Rule: If you cannot attend, you must notify the club at least 48 hours in advance to avoid any logistical issues.

4. Conduct Rule: Players must follow the Official Pickleball Rules, the event rules, and ensure they are making the Ladder League a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone.

5. Finish-All-Games Rule: Players must complete all scheduled games. This includes the potential to play 3-4 matches in a 2-hour period. Forfeits result in an 15-0, 15-0 score for the opposing team.

6. Level Rule: Ensure you meet the level requirement. All participants must have at least a solid 2.5 skill level or higher.

7. Results Recording: Players are responsible for recording their match results through Court Reserve.
8. Injury or Inability to Continue: If a player gets injured or is unable to continue in the league, they must notify the League Manager and follow the appropriate procedure. In some cases, the player might be moved to a different position or temporarily suspended from matches.
Tie-Breaking Process for the Individual Ladder Ranking:

If multiple players finish the league or a week with the same win/loss record, the tie-breakers will be applied as follows:

1. Most Wins: The player with the most wins in the league matches.
2. Total Point Differential: The total point differential from all matches will be taken into account.
3. Random Selection: If the tie remains unresolved, a random selection (coin toss) will be made to determine the final ranking.

FAQs:
· How do I register for this ladder?
Registration is done through Court Reserve.

· How are partners assigned within each pool?
Partners will be assigned initially based on the player’s self-rating. From the second week onward, partners will be assigned based on the players' standing in the table round robin.

· What’s the format for the matches?
Each match will be played as one set to 15, with the winner needing to win by 1 point.

· Injuries or Inability to Continue
If a player gets injured or is unable to continue in the league, they must notify the League Manager immediately. Depending on the situation, the player may be moved to a different position, temporarily suspended, or allowed to rejoin after a break. This will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

· If I cannot attend a game, do I move down the ranking sheet?
No, missing one week does not affect your individual ladder ranking. However, your table placement may change as other players move up and down the tables.
